Caribbean Cultural Center

Building a Caribbean Cultural Center has always been a main goal of WIU. To continue our nonprofit work of preserving and enriching the artistic, cultural and historic heritage of the Caribbean, this cultural center will expand opportunities to serve the Caribbean community, as well as our fellow Virginians and visitors.

The Caribbean Cultural Center would be the first privately-managed venue of its kind in Hampton Roads, which would provide a myriad of key impacts for this area. WIU’s most important impact for having this center is community building through cultural awareness. Here’s what we hope to achieve:

Our Solutions
• Economic Development for the Community
• Avenue for Athletic & Cultural Development & Growth
• Annual Tournaments for Caribbean Sports
• Ongoing Events, Camps, Clinics & Training
• State of the Art Facility and Storm Shelter

Definitions of Success
• Enhance the local community by providing access for youth and adults to a high-quality facility, offering programs and spaces for cultural development
• Develop a facility that can host tournaments and events that will generate economic impact by attracting non-local visitors
• Create a self-sustaining business model
